Moment of Truth has been playing on the jukebox most of the day. It’s one of those songs, that once you connect, you’ll play over and over.

Dahr says the song has been hanging around awhile and missed making Volume 2.  Moment of Truth seems out of character for a typical Titty Bingo tune, but this song works.

Dahr’s world weary vocals remind you to appreciate life while you can. You sense loss throughout the song and understated playing supports the mood. A strong melodic sense sinks the song into your psyche, but it’s the vocals and message you won’t forget.

Moment of Truth feels like a lonely end-of-the-night song; one where you pull somebody close and dance one more time because it might be your last dance together.

I’ve been listening to mastered mixes from Titty Bingo’s next release. Cueing up the jukebox, So Cold whacked me like a Buford Pusser 2 x 4 across the gut.

So Cold is a f*cking monster. I wonder if Dahr’s showing the youngsters how to rock?

Freddy’s opening toms on So Cold announce a kick to the head before you’re whisked away on a runaway freight train. Freddy’s drums and Larry Fulcher’s propulsive bass send this song careening down the rails yet their rhythmic skills keep the proceedings from flying apart.

Dahr’s urgent vocals border on unhinged.  He’s a hanging-out-the-window engineer on this out-of-control train and you better clear the tracks.

Then there’s Derek O’Brien’s guitar. Fans of Derek adore his understated, sinewy guitar licks, but this time around, Derek stomps on the throttle and leaves me with my mouth hanging open.

The production lends the right atmospherics (especially Derek’s guitar) which support the song’s attitude.  Dahr co-produces with Andy Johns while Andy mastered and mixed. Steve Chadie does the engineering work.

By the way, no one knows when or where this gem will appear. There’s a distinct chance So Cold won’t fit on the next release.
