13 Songs About Texas, Pt. 2

by Randy Combs on

Part 2 of 13 Songs About Texas starts off rowdy with a song by a group of Californians known as the Flamin’ Groovies. By the way, here are the first 7 Songs About Texas.

I could sure go for a Shiner and a bowl of chili.

8. The Raconteurs – Headin’ For The Texas Border

9. Texas Tornados – Anybody Goin’ to San Antone?

10. Stevie Ray Vaughan – Texas Flood

11. Jimmie Rodgers – T For Texas

12. The Reverend Horton Heat – Livin’ On The Edge (Of Houston)

13. Johnny Copeland – Houston

How about a few suggestions for the next list?

How about Jimmy Webb’s Galveston? Or ZZ Top’s LaGrange? Mark May’s Telephone Road (about the street in Houston)?

And don’t forget that Midnight Special is said to have come out of the Sugarland prison. “If you ever go to Houston, boy you better do right.”

Jim…

Great songs. Looks like we’re going to have to get to work on the next list.

I know it’s a bit cliched but I always loved “All My Exes Live in Texas”. Any song that can incorporate “Transcendental Meditation” into the lyrics gets a nod from me.
