Six Pioneering Feedback Songs

by Randy Combs on

Feedback, whether accidental or purposeful, can bring an intensity and excitement to a song. Often overused these days, feedback can end up being a lazy annoyance or a typical cliche (like an extended drum solo).

Back in earlier times, feedback was usually frowned upon by recording engineers and squashed like an annoying picnic bug. Thank goodness, a few pioneers made it to final vinyl.

Here are six pioneering feedback numbers:

  • Little Walter – Juke – http://tr.im/FhJT
  • Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio – Train Kept A Rollin’ – http://tr.im/FhKu
  • The Yardbirds – Train Kept A Rollin’ – http://tr.im/FhNG
  • The Who – Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere – http://tr.im/FhLn
  • Jimi Hendrix – Purple Haze – http://tr.im/FhLS
  • The Beatles – I Feel Fine – http://tr.im/FhN6
