Titty Bingo has been busy recording at Pedernales the past couple weeks.
Today, they’ll be in the studio working toward completion of Volume 3.
In a prior interview, I asked Dahr about the Titty Bingo recording process:
“A ton of improvisation goes on. It’s hard to describe, but this last session, part of it, was recording new songs and part of it was finishing old songs.
We usually have different things going on. When we’re in there, we start fixing the ones we targeted. We’ll have a batch that we’re recording and a batch that we’re working on. It’ll go from basic tacks to overdubs. Many of the Willie tracks are done in one take live and there’s very little overdubbing.
The last time we recorded, there were two unfinished songs. We finished them in the studio just so the songs would have some newness to them. Even though we’d been playing them, the words weren’t completely done, parts weren’t completely decided and we had about 15 recorded home versions to pick from. While I’m at home, I listen to all those different tempos and all of those different ways of doing them. When we get to the studio, I finish writing the song.”
