Steven Wheatley is one of those rare podcasters who puts on a top-of-the-line professional music show. Effortlessly, he weaves music, sound bites, comedy and his own patter to create an entertaining and interesting musical exploration. Not afraid to explore new music styles and bands, Steven has positioned himself as a leader in the crowded podcasting community.
Steven has made thousands of listeners aware of Titty Bingo. So, in order for Titty Bingo fans to learn more about Steven, we asked him a few questions:
Steve, where do you call home?
Frosterley, a quaint English village in the heart of Weardale in the North East . History of the village goes back to the 9th century. “Frosterley” means “a clearing in the forest”
What do you do for a living?
I don’t work at the moment due to being semi-disabled with arthritis and diabetes, so I just create havoc playing music on Dalecast and running realRADIO1 !
Previously, I was the proprietor of my own computer retail shops in Darlington, UK. Also managed a DJ/Sound & Lighting/Band equipment store in Darlington. Also DJed as a mobile jock since I was 14. Done club/radio work/ promotions etc. Also did sound/lighting custom installations, sound & lighting design/production/repairs etc
I spent several years in the Royal Air Force repairing computers and ground communications equipment.
Any hobbies?
Music, computers, the Internet, a bit of gardening , walking with my partner in the great countryside here around Frosterley and the Dales, dogs, cooking & entertaining
What’s the last song you heard?
Well at this particular minute I’m listening to new music for today’s podcast. I’m listening to a new band from the UK called Walkway. They are from Norwich in the UK and comprise of 4 young guys aged 15-18 years old. Their music is reminiscent of 70’s-80’s rock. You can listen to them on Dalecast episodes 524, 525 & 526. (Titty Bingo appears on 524, too).
What’s your favorite Titty Bingo Song?
It’s gotta be “Little Angel”
Any words of wisdom or favorite quotes?
“ I don’t know anything about music. In my line you don’t have to.” Elvis Presley (1935 – 1977)
Thanks, Steve!
